Canon Unveils the EOS R50 V Mirrorless Camera

Canon is introducing its latest mirrorless camera, the Canon EOS R5O V. It is an updated version of the 2023 entry-level Canon EOS R50. More than that, the new model is more compact, has a cheaper price tag, and features better video capabilities.

The new mirrorless camera expands the brand’s growing EOS V-series. Accordingly, the product’s “video-first” design answers the needs of content and video creators.

It is worth noting that Canon stays committed to the goal of the product lineup, which is to assist all types of creators in improving their visual storytelling. The EOS R50 V helps every creator in different fields, including vlogging, live streaming, VR, and even cinema.

Design, Features, and Specifications

In a press release, Canon describes the new mirrorless camera as “Cinema quality in the palm of your hand.”

Understanding that every creator has varying preferences and needs, the Japanese company says it built the EOS R50 V through creator feedback. Featuring modern elements, new lenses, and customization options, the new camera makes content creation easier.

The EOS R50 V can shoot cropped 4K at 60fps and YCC 422 10bit while having a Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for quiet and smooth autofocus.

In addition, it includes a live stream and movie recording button, along with a tripod screw hole for vertical shooting. There are also four methods of live streaming, mainly UVC/UAC, Camera Connect, HDMI, and Live Switcher Mobile multi-camera.

Achieving rich bokeh is a breeze with its APS-C sensor and DIGIC X image processor. Moreover, it is compatible with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens.

While the mirrorless camera is basically video-centric, it is still capable of delivering outstanding still-image.

The Canon EOS R50 V will be available at an estimated retail price of $649.99 (body only) and $849.99 (with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ) in April.
