Lorde released her much-awaited latest single, What Was That. The new song of the New Zealand singer-songwriter is reportedly part of her upcoming fourth studio album.
Additionally, the track is Lorde’s first official release in almost four years. In connection with this, her last project was the previous album in 2021 called Solar Power. Apart from that, she only appeared in a collaboration project with Charli xcx for the remix version of Girl, so confusing.
Based on an article by McKinley Franklin, the singer hinted at her new song in a TikTok post on April 9. Similarly, she also announced it on her Instagram account.
“My new song What Was That. Out soon,” says Lorde in the post.
Prior to the release, Lorde debuted What Was That in a spontaneous performance at Washington Square Park.
Moreover, the accompanying music video shows the singer cycling, running, and walking around The Big Apple.
Furthermore, Jim-E Stack, Dan Nigro, and Lorde herself produced the latest track.
