Madonna broke her silence after CONFESSIONS II debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her 10th chart-topping album and extending her record-setting career. In an Instagram post, she thanked fans and collaborators, expressing gratitude and disbelief over the album’s success.

She wrote, “Words cannot express how grateful and surprised I am by the incredible reception, Confessions on a Dance Floor has received!!”
She continued by thanking her supporters and collaborators, adding, “The goodwill and positivity has been incredible. I’m still pinching myself. I can’t believe it’s #1 all around the world.”
She concluded, “My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY! Dreams do come true. Thanks and love!”
Historic Billboard achievement
CONFESSIONS II debuted with 134,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending July 9, according to Luminate. The total included 114,000 pure album sales and 20.1 million streams, marking Madonna’s biggest streaming week to date.

With the debut, Madonna became the first artist to earn a No. 1 album in the 1980s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.
She also joined The Beatles, Drake and Taylor Swift as one of only four artists with at least 10 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and 10 No. 1 singles on the Hot 100.
Album context and collaborations
CONFESSIONS II is the sequel to Madonna’s 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, reuniting her with producer Stuart Price.
Released on July 3, the 16-track album features collaborations with Sabrina Carpenter, Feid, Martin Garrix, Stromae and Lola Leon. Its lead collaboration with Carpenter, “Bring Your Love,” entered the Billboard Hot 100.
Madonna also premiered Confessions II — The Film at the Tribeca Festival in June, featuring six songs from the album.

Behind the scenes
In an interview with Interview Magazine, Madonna said she had been developing a biopic with Universal Studios before returning to music following creative differences.
She explained, “I thought the world is in a very dark place and people need to dance… What if we tried to make Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II and reenter the world of inspirational dance music?” The decision led her back to Stuart Price’s studio in London, where the album took shape.

The achievement further cements Madonna’s status as one of pop music’s most enduring artists, with 24 albums reaching the Billboard Top 10.
She is also set to perform at the FIFA World Cup Halftime Show alongside Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira.
