Madonna drops major hint about future tour plans

Madonna hinted at a possible return to live performances during an on-stage conversation with Anderson Cooper at New York’s Beacon Theatre on June 5, following the world premiere of her short film Confessions II at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Asked whether her well-received pop-up performance in Times Square the previous night could lead to a full tour, the 67-year-old singer stopped short of making any announcements but made clear she wants to perform live again.

Madonna said she has no interest in repeating herself creatively and floated the idea of staging a show inside a cube lowered into the middle of an audience. When a fan suggested a residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, she joked that while the venue sounded appealing, she would not want to wake up to a view of Las Vegas every day.

No tour dates, venues or timeline were announced and Madonna’s team has not issued a formal statement confirming a tour.

A Tribeca homecoming

The comments came after the premiere of Confessions II, a visual film tied to Madonna’s upcoming album of the same name.

Tribeca Film Festival organizers described the project as an ambitious visual work exceeding 10 minutes and built around the album’s first six tracks, including “I Feel So Free” and “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter.

The film was directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase, the duo known as TORSO. Following the screening, Madonna joined the directors for a conversation that was originally scheduled to be moderated by Jimmy Fallon.

Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal praised Madonna’s ability to reinvent herself, saying Confessions II feels immersive, provocative and contemporary while drawing on a nightlife mythology uniquely associated with the singer.

Tickets became available on May 12 exclusively to members of the Madonna Community through digital access codes, according to Variety.

Extra reported that Madonna arrived around 9:30 p.m. through a side entrance, accompanied by her boyfriend, Akeem Morris, 30. Wearing a white sparkly dress beneath a feathery coat and dark sunglasses, she received a standing ovation as she made her way to a sixth-row seat.

She attended alongside her children David Banda, Mercy James and Lourdes Leon, who appear in the film. Also present were collaborator Feid, director Jonas Ã…kerlund and longtime friend Debi Mazar.

Album behind the film

Confessions II is scheduled for release on July 3 through Warner Records and serves as a follow-up to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Madonna reunited with producer Stuart Price for the project. The accompanying film took roughly six months to shoot across London, Los Angeles and New York as part of a creative effort that spanned about a year and a half.

She described the album as a continuous story intended to be heard from beginning to end, becoming increasingly reflective and intimate in its second half. Madonna also said she turned to dance music as a creative outlet while waiting for other film and television projects to move forward.
