Meta to Start Testing Community Notes Across its Major Platforms

0

Meta will begin testing Community Notes across its major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Originally, the tech giant announced this innovation last January, stating it would end the third-party fact-checking program.

According to an article, the company will adopt the approach of X’s Community Notes system. Specifically, its version will be more of a crowd-sourced Community Notes method.

The testing program amassed almost 200,000 potential contributors in the US through sign-ups across their apps. While the waitlist remains open, Meta will start admission gradually and randomly. As part of the program testing, contributors will write and rate notes on content. However, Meta plans to take its time testing the system entirely before publishing anything.

A Closer Look at How Community Notes Work

Meta says that it does not get to decide on the content, but community contributors will. Publishing content requires “contributors with a range of viewpoints broadly agree on them” to avoid bias. In connection, the process is not majority wins. Individuals who commonly disagree need to approve that the content offers helpful context for it to get published, regardless of how many contributors agree on the note. A link to support the note will also be necessary in the process.

Furthermore, community notes will not feature the names of the authors, as it wants contributors to rate solely the content. Similarly, contributors are not allowed to post notes on advertisements.

Facebook’s parent company also wants Community Notes to perform better than its previous program.

“We expect Community Notes to be less biased than the third party fact checking program it replaces, and to operate at a greater scale when it is fully up and running,” Meta says, citing the unexpected challenges it faced in 2016.

Meta’s Community Notes testing will begin on March 18 in the United States. Nevertheless, it intends to bring the new approach to the rest of the world once everything is running smoothly.

Playboi Carti Reveals Release Date for ‘I AM MUSIC’ Album

Playboi Carti is officially releasing the I AM MUSIC album, which most fans think was an eternity in the making.

The rapper himself confirmed the announcement through his Instagram account.

Prior to the confirmation, a buzz started after he shared a screenshot of a conversation with Wheezy, where the two talked about doing a sample of JAY-Z’s Girls, Girls, Girls. The photos led to assumptions that the project was still not done, but the artist shut it down immediately.

“MY ALBUM DONE,” Carty said, dismissing the rumors that his album is not completed yet.

The rapper has been actively hyping his album in the past months. He even teased the record at the Miami Rolling Loud Festival in December 2024, Sophie Caraan of Hypebeast reports.

Furthermore, his upcoming third studio album is not expected to include guest features. Simultaneously, this will be the artist’s first album release after five long years.

I AM MUSIC is set to drop tomorrow, March 14.

Sony Leak Shows AI PlayStation Characters in Testing

Sony is said to be in the process of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its PlayStation game characters. If confirmed, the multinational conglomerate will join other big names in the industry, including Nvidia and Microsoft, in this innovation.

According to a report from The Verge, an anonymous tipster leaked an internal video from Sony’s PlayStation group. The said video shows Horizon Forbidden West’s Aloy seemingly functioning through AI.

Based on the same report, Sony Interactive Entertainment Software Engineering Director Sharwin Raghoebardajal is seen narrating in the video. Raghoebardajal was said to be demonstrating how the development works by holding a conversation with the character through voice prompts.

In addition, AI-powered Aloy can be seen answering questions using a synthesized voice and facial movements. Raghoebardajal speaks with Aloy in the video, asking her how she is doing and something about her journey. Consequently, the character responds based on the Horizon game moments, Brett Byll of GameRant reports. The character was shown in a demo setting and the Horizon Forbidden West game.

A Synthesis of AI Innovations

Engineering Director Raghoebardajal stresses that the prototype was a collaboration with Guerrilla Games. Moreover, the developers of the technology integrated OpenAI’s whisper for speech-to-text. GPT-4 and Llama 3 enable its ability to make decisions and hold conversations. On the other hand, Sony uses its native Mockingbird technology and Emotional Voice Synthesis system for audio-to-face animation and speech generation, respectively.

The leak reveals that the demo runs on PC, but the tech company is also experimenting with running parts directly on PS5 consoles, says Raghoebardajal. While Sony shows hints of continued AI development in games, it seems the company is not ready for an official rollout.

Meanwhile, prior to this report, the leaked video was uploaded on YouTube, but a copyright claim from Muso caused the content to be removed.

Greek-American designer Pelagia Kolotouros headed the exquisite collection. At the same time, the runway was held at the courts of the renowned Roland Garros Stadium.

Kolotouros opened the show with an ultra-modern take while reflecting a natural harmony. She proved that her fashion attitude changes the game on and off the court.

According to Andrea Sacal of Hypebeast, the creative director’s vision included puffed athletic uniforms, knitted polo shirts, and oversized tailoring. At the same time, the outfit lineup featured jumpsuits, coats, loose-fitting trousers, wide-collared blazers, skirts, waterproof jackets, double-layered gloves, and khaki tracksuits, reads a Footboom article.

Lacoste’s collection emanates a positive atmosphere by using brown, black, white, fuchsia, and green in various shades. Consequently, the sparkling cardigan came with a myriad of dark green looks.

Based on reports, the collection was inspired by the founder of the sports luxury brand — René Lacoste. Also, Kolotouros paid tribute to the nickname ‘The Crocodile’ that René earned on the courts. The designer incorporated his name in uppercase (RENÉ) on several pieces, together with the founding year of the brand (1927).

Celebrating the Timeless Legacy of Lacoste

The company’s runway in the Paris Fashion Week honors the long-standing on-court legacy of Lacoste. A-listers like Adrien Brody, Sampha, and Venus Williams attended the event at the Philippe Chatrier court. Marking a unique experience, attendees were able to witness the show right from the court, instead of the stands.

Meanwhile, an embroidered napkin inside a green-trimmed leather box was given to guests as part of the welcoming gimmick. Further, soft blankets covered the seats, adding a new layer to the mood of the event.

The fall-winter collection takes luxury sportswear to greater heights, cementing the name of Lacoste in fashion history.
