Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers has officially launched on Steam. This title is a revival and a modernized version of the classic 1998 arcade game. Its arrival also follows the April release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The latest Steam brings new features, additional modes, and an expanded fighter roster. Â
Classic Fighting Game Returns
The game came out in 1998. Likewise, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 was a popular entry in the Fatal Fury series. It is developed by Code Mystics and published by SNK Corporation. Now, the classic has been revived by the developer and publisher after more than two decades.
According to the Stream description, this modernized release keeps the original gameplay and graphics. However, it does bring enhancements. It also wants to cater to today’s fighting game fans. This latest title offers arcade nostalgia. At the same time, it aims to meet the expectations of new competitive play.
Classic Game with Modern Features
As per the official announcement, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers will feature rollback netcode. It improves the overall online play. In the same way, up to nine players can join the lobbies. They also have different tournament modes to choose from.
Similarly, the new edition includes a Practice Mode. It comes with adjustable game speed and recording options. Also, there is a Gallery Mode that offers 59 memorable art pieces.
Expanded Roster with New Characters
SNK said that this version features 23 playable characters. It also marks the biggest cast in the Fatal Fury series. In particular, players can expect familiar faces such as Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, among others. Likewise, newcomers in the game include Li Xiangfei and Rick Strowd.
